Jamie O’Hara hospitalized after food poisoning in Portugal
Jamie O’Hara has revealed he was taken to hospital after suffering food poisoning during a holiday in Portugal, with the former Tottenham midfielder sharing a photo of himself receiving treatment from a hospital bed, reports BritPanorama.
The talkSPORT presenter, who is enjoying a break from broadcasting duties, travelled to the popular Algarve resort of Albufeira for some summer sunshine. Instead, the 39-year-old’s trip took an unexpected turn after he fell ill and required medical attention.
O’Hara posted an image on Instagram showing himself attached to an intravenous drip as he updated followers on his condition. “Got food poisoning from cheese on toast in Albufeira absolute stinker,” he wrote, prompting an outpouring of support from fans wishing him a speedy recovery.
In addition to his Instagram update, O’Hara shared the same photograph on X, adding: “Man down in Albufeira only got food poisoning from cheese on toast.” His absence has been noticed by regular listeners of talkSPORT, with both he and co-host Jason Cundy away from their usual presenting duties this week.
The station has drafted in several stand-in presenters to fill in, including Max Scott and former England international Jermaine Pennant. Before becoming a prominent presenter, O’Hara enjoyed a professional career spanning more than a decade, starting at Tottenham’s academy and making 56 senior appearances for the club.
His career also included stints at Milwall, Portsmouth, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Blackpool, Fulham, and Gillingham, concluding in non-league football with Billericay Town. Notably, O’Hara was part of the Tottenham side that won the EFL Cup in 2008, although he missed a penalty in the final the following year against Manchester United.
