Ukraine targets Russian warehouses in drone strikes, five reported dead

Ukraine accused Russia of committing a war crime after footage emerged showing a drone pursuing and wounding a civilian market vendor in Kherson, reports BritPanorama.

The video, released by Ukrainian police, depicts a drone chasing an unidentified man around a van used as a street stand before detonating as he attempts to take cover. Police confirmed that the vendor, a man in his 50s, survived but sustained shock and shrapnel injuries.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha characterized the attack as a “barbaric Russian war crime” demanding international condemnation and justice. He claimed the drone pilot would have known they were targeting a civilian, labeling them a “sadist.”

In a post on social media, President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the incident as a ‘drone safari’, asserting that Russia deliberately hunted down the vegetable seller. He argued that the world must witness the evidence of Russia’s actions and the need for robust global responses.

Zelensky emphasized that without pressure on Russia, dismantling its capacity for aggression, and providing real security guarantees, a peaceful coexistence with such evil is impossible. He expressed the need for a resolute defense of life and meaningful support that will compel Russia to reconsider its military aggression.

The incident highlights the ongoing impact of the conflict in Ukraine, particularly the threats faced by civilians amid military operations. As casualties mount, calls for accountability and international intervention grow louder, reflecting the complexities of warfare and its humanitarian ramifications.
