Lando Norris impressed by Formula E debut in Monaco
Lando Norris experienced his maiden Formula E event in Monaco over the weekend, and the reigning Formula One world champion came away thoroughly impressed by what he witnessed, reports BritPanorama.
The British driver expressed enthusiasm for the all-electric series, highlighting its thrilling nature and the calibre of competitors on the grid. Norris praised the unpredictability of Formula E, stating, “There’s always chaos, always carnage and [it’s] always unpredictable – everything you want from racing.”
Attending the Monaco race as a guest of Jake Dennis, the previous series champion, Norris engaged with drivers and gained insights from those with direct experience in electric racing. He noted his connections to many competitors, describing them as “top class athletes, some of the best in the world.”
Norris disclosed his ambition to drive a Formula E machine soon, acknowledging the differences between Formula One and Formula E. However, he believes valuable lessons can still be extracted from drivers competing in electric racing. While the Monaco event quietly buzzed with excitement, it drew a notable celebrity crowd, including Hollywood star Idris Elba, who examined the forthcoming Gen4 car set to debut next season.
Besides Elba, British Olympic legends Paula Radcliffe and Daley Thompson were also in attendance, welcomed by Formula E chief executive Jeff Dodds. Model Rebecca Donaldson and Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz made an appearance, alongside American influencer Olivia Ponton. Broadcasting duties were covered by familiar faces including David Coulthard, Jamie Chadwick, and Karun Chandhok.
As motorsport continues to evolve, Norris’s fascination with Formula E signals a broader appreciation for the all-electric race series. With a blend of chaos and skill, it remains a captivating arena drawing interest from both racing purists and newcomers alike.
