Roy Keane’s kitchen outburst over delayed breakfast before World Cup

Roy Keane has revealed he stormed into a hotel kitchen and branded staff “useless” after becoming enraged over a delayed breakfast while trying to secure his visa for this summer’s World Cup, reports BritPanorama.

The former Manchester United captain is expected to be part of ITV’s punditry team for the tournament, which will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Keane recounted his experience during an appearance on Stick to Football alongside Ian Wright and Jill Scott. He explained that his patience wore thin while staying at a luxury hotel in London, where he was under time pressure to attend the embassy for his visa application.

After ordering a simple breakfast of two poached eggs on toast, Keane found himself waiting as other guests were served ahead of him. “I ordered two poached eggs on toast,” he said, explaining his frustration at seeing others receiving their meals first.

Despite initially trying to remain calm, his annoyance escalated with the ticking clock and no sign of his breakfast. When informed that staff would check with the kitchen, he felt compelled to confront the situation directly, stating, “I had to go in there.”

“I’ve ordered half an hour ago, two poached eggs,” he continued. His frustration culminated in him marching into the kitchen. “I get two f****** poached eggs,” he exclaimed to the staff.

Following the confrontation, Keane described feeling flustered as he raced to his visa appointment: “Honestly, I was walking out to this embassy… I had my big jacket on. I was sweating.” He also found the hotel’s laid-back attitude irritating, recalling how staff repeatedly advised him to relax.

His anecdote provided a humorous insight into his typically fiery personality, leaving both Wright and Scott in stitches. Keane has become one of the most recognisable voices in football broadcasting post-retirement, known for his blunt analysis and no-nonsense style during major international tournaments.

The incident, while seemingly trivial, underscores the pressures and peculiarities that often accompany high-profile events, illustrating how even the simplest tasks can provoke a spirited response. As Keane prepares to lend his insight during the World Cup, it serves as a reminder that the passion this sport ignites can sometimes manifest in unexpected ways.
