Mark Webster to return to Sky Sports coverage amid cancer treatment recovery

Darts pundit Mark Webster has revealed he will be back on screens this Thursday for Premier League coverage at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena, despite continuing his battle against cancer, reports BritPanorama.

The popular commentator, who disclosed his hairy cell leukaemia diagnosis just last week, confirmed that his condition has improved sufficiently for him to resume his broadcasting duties. Webster will return for night 15 of the competition, the penultimate event before finals night takes place at the O2 Arena.

The Welshman remains in treatment for the rare blood cancer but has received medical clearance to rejoin the coverage team. Despite the seriousness of the condition, medical professionals have conveyed encouraging news regarding his outlook, offering hope to fans who have followed his career both as a player and broadcaster.

The improvement in his health has been swift enough to allow him to return to work while still receiving ongoing treatment for the disease. In a statement, Webster expressed his joy at the turnaround in his health, saying, “I’m delighted to say that since this interview was filmed, things have improved. Although I’m still undergoing treatment, I have been cleared to return to Premier League duty on Thursday. Looking forward to being back amongst it. Thanks again for all of the love and support.”

Supporters responded with enthusiasm to Webster’s announcement, with one fan declaring: “That’s great news Mark! I hope the recovery continues apace. It takes more than that to beat a Welshman!” Another well-wisher wrote, “Great news, Mark. Looking forward to seeing you and very best wishes for your recovery.”

Thursday’s event sees Luke Littler chasing a fourth consecutive victory, with the teenager topping the standings following a difficult start to the season.
