Former Nottingham Forest owner stabbed during home invasion
The former owner of Nottingham Forest, Fawaz Al-Hawasi, was stabbed in his London home by masked robbers, resulting in injuries to his hand and neck as the assailants ransacked his £10 million property, reports BritPanorama.
Al-Hawasi, 57, is believed to have been asleep when the men entered and attacked him earlier this month. The gang fled the scene, and it remains unclear whether any valuables were taken from the property in Mayfair.
The incident has raised significant concerns among visitors from the Arabian Gulf, with Al-Hawasi’s lawyer stating that it reflects a troubling trend of violence even in London’s affluent areas. He noted that “visitors, tourists, students, and patients” now live in fear of similar attacks.
Fortunately, the Metropolitan Police have reported that Al-Hawasi’s injuries were not life-threatening, and investigations into the attack are ongoing.
Before his time with Nottingham Forest, Al-Hawasi was president of Qadsia SC in Kuwait, where he oversaw the club’s success, securing two Kuwait Premier League titles, among other trophies. He acquired Nottingham Forest in 2012 but sold it in May 2017 after a tumultuous period for the club that saw it drop to 21st in the Championship.
This alarming incident highlights growing safety concerns within London, a city often viewed as a bastion of security. Al-Hawasi’s experience serves as a sobering reminder that, in an ever-changing landscape, even the wealthiest can be susceptible to the surge in urban crime.
