A Status Orange rain warning has been issued for Wicklow by Met Éireann.
The forecaster has warned that spells of heavy rain may cause localised flooding.
The warning came into effect just before 10.30am this morning and will be in place until 11am tomorrow.
A series of Status Yellow rain warnings have also been issued for thirteen other counties around the country.
Cork and Kerry have been under a Status Yellow rain warning from 11pm yesterday. It expires at 9pm.
A similar warning for Clare, Galway and Mayo came into effect at 6am and will also end at 9pm.
Meanwhile, a Status Yellow rain warning for Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Louth, Wexford, Waterford is valid from 6am to 6am tomorrow.
The UK Met Office has also issued a yellow warning for Antrim and Down from 2pm today until 3pm tomorrow.
It forecasts that a “prolonged spell of rain, some of it heavy, will likely cause difficult driving conditions and some disruption to travel”.
The Road Safety Authority has urged people to take care on the roads during the weather warnings.
Drivers are advised to slow down and allow greater braking distance in wet conditions, particularly on high-speed roads such as dual carriageways and motorways.
Meanwhile pedestrians and cyclists are advised to ensure they are visible to other road users during poor weather conditions.
