Tyson Fury considers comeback against Oleksandr Usyk despite father's objections

Tyson Fury plans return to the ring

Tyson Fury is ready to go against his father’s wishes, revealing to Derek Chisora his intention to return to the ring. Following his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in January, Fury had shocked fans by announcing his retirement, claiming to have achieved everything possible, reports BritPanorama.

However, discussions about the 37-year-old’s comeback have intensified. Chisora stated in an interview that he spoke with Fury, who is determined to face Usyk for a third time, despite the challenges he faced in their previous encounters.

“I was in Monaco with Tyson, Tyson is coming back. He wants to fight Usyk. ‘The Gypsy King’ is coming back, don’t worry about that,” Chisora said, underscoring Fury’s resolve.

A potential return could provoke a conflict with his father, John Fury, who has publicly expressed his concerns. He argues that Tyson should not resume his boxing career, emphasizing that his son has not performed at his peak since enduring tough battles with Deontay Wilder.

“No, I don’t want him to return,” John told iFL TV after observing a recent bout where his sentiment about the sport’s risks was clear. “Tyson has not been his best since [Deontay] Wilder. The trilogy with Wilder done Wilder completely and took a lot out of Tyson,” he added.

Despite the defeats to Usyk, Fury maintains an otherwise unbeaten record, bolstered by a knockout victory against Dillian Whyte to defend his WBC title. Yet, his recent performance against Francis Ngannou raised questions, as he faced more significant challenges than anticipated, ultimately securing a win but not without peril.

Meanwhile, speculation grows about a potential seismic showdown with Anthony Joshua next year, as promoter Eddie Hearn revealed Joshua’s eagerness to face Fury, calling it “the biggest fight in the sport.” Hearn emphasized the importance of Joshua’s confidence and preparation prior to such a monumental bout.

As excitement mounts over Fury’s possible return, the implications on both his legacy and health remain critical points of discussion, marking a noteworthy moment in the world of boxing. The Gypsy King’s journey back to the ring promises to be as complex as his storied career, revealing the struggle between ambition and caution that defines many athletes at the pinnacle of their sport.
