Lewis Hamilton finishes fourth at Australian Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton finished fourth at the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, demonstrating a significantly improved performance following a disappointing earlier campaign. Only George Russell, Kimi Antonelli, and Charles Leclerc placed ahead of him at Albert Park, reports BritPanorama.
The event marked a positive outing for Ferrari, as both drivers displayed competitive challenges against Russell and Antonelli. The team appears to have made considerable advancements with the introduction of new regulations.
Hamilton declined to dwell on feelings of regret when asked about his race strategy. “No. I have to go back and have a look but I’m generally really proud of the team,” he stated. He acknowledged the hard work that has brought the car to its current state, adding, “Of course, we are not as fast at Mercedes and we have work to do but we are right in the fight.”
The 41-year-old outlined a feeling of satisfaction with the race, sharing, “It was a really fun race and it felt good to me. A couple more laps and I would have had Charles, so I had great pace. Lots of positives to take from today.” He further indicated challenges in qualifying that did not reflect the car’s competitive potential.
Hamilton noted ongoing efforts to improve performance relative to Mercedes but remains optimistic, stating, “We need to find out whether it’s power, or battery power, but the cars are just as quick through the corners so we need to keep pushing.”
Charles Leclerc, Hamilton’s teammate, emphasized the race’s challenges attributable to the new rules. “It was a very tricky race!” he remarked, highlighting the complexities encountered in overtaking and energy management during the event.
With Russell claiming victory, he expressed satisfaction with his performance, describing himself as “mega happy.” The racing calendar continues with the next Grand Prix set for March 15 at the Shanghai International Circuit, promising further excitement in the season ahead.
In the competitive world of Formula 1, this race serves as a reminder of how quickly fortunes can shift and how resilience is tested week after week. Each race not only showcases individual talent but also the relentless drive of teams to innovate and adapt. It’s this very unpredictability that keeps fans on the edge of their seats.
