Kai Trump rules out political career
Kai Trump, the 18-year-old granddaughter of US President Donald Trump, has firmly ruled out any prospect of entering the political arena, reports BritPanorama.
Speaking on the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul, the high school senior stated, “I would never run and I don’t want anything to do with politics.”
The daughter of Donald Trump Jr and Vanessa Trump cited safety concerns as her primary motivation for steering clear of public office. “I feel like politics is such a dangerous thing,” she explained, adding that greater happiness would prevail “if both sides met in the middle.”
Ms Trump positioned herself as a moderate, stating she is “very much in the middle,” while condemning extremism across the political spectrum. “There’s radical-Left, there’s radical-Right and there’s a lot of people who get too extreme,” she observed.
The aspiring golfer, who boasts a substantial TikTok following, suggested that social media plays a significant role in driving political division. She argued that platforms like Instagram create echo chambers, pushing users toward ideological extremes. “Social media kind of makes your Instagram or your feed be one way or the other and there’s not a lot of things on social media if you’re very much in the middle,” she noted.
Her remarks carry particular weight given the dangers her grandfather faced during his 2024 presidential campaign. Mr Trump survived two assassination attempts while seeking the White House, narrowly escaping death when a bullet grazed him at a rally.
When pressed by the podcast host for her views on Kamala Harris, the former vice-president who challenged her grandfather in the election, Ms Trump declined to offer criticism. “There’s no bad blood. It is what it is, they ran against each other,” she said, emphasising that while she naturally supports her family, she harbours no personal animosity towards her grandfather’s political opponents.
Ms Trump, who aspires to a professional golfing career, stated that her parents encouraged her and her siblings to develop their own political views without imposing beliefs upon them. “Nothing was ever pushed upon us. I just happen to be a granddaughter of the president,” she said. Her father, Donald Trump Jr, has established himself as a prominent conservative voice in American politics.
This distinction within a politically engaged family offers an insight into the complexities faced by younger generations navigating their identities within the public sphere. In a world deeply intertwined with politics, individuals like Kai Trump remind us how personal aspirations can clearly diverge from family legacies, echoing a sentiment felt by many as they carve their own paths.
