Jude Bellingham responds to rift rumours with strong denial
Jude Bellingham has issued a staunch denial of rumours suggesting a rift between himself and former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, calling the misinformation “damaging,” reports BritPanorama.
The 22-year-old’s comments come after Alonso departed Real Madrid following an unsuccessful tenure of just eight months, highlighted by a loss in the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona. Reports had indicated that Bellingham was among the senior players who struggled under Alonso’s management.
In a statement shared on his JB5 app, Bellingham stated: “Until now I’ve let far too many of these slide, always hoping the truth will come to light in its own time. But honestly… What a load of s**t. Truly feel sorry for the people that hang on to the every word of these clowns and their ‘sources’. Do not believe everything you read; every now and then these lot need to be held accountable for spreading this kind of damaging misinformation for clicks and added controversy.”
Following Alonso’s exit, Bellingham took to social media to express his gratitude, posting a photo with the manager and writing, “Thank you, Mister. It was a pleasure, all the very best for the future.” During his time under Alonso, Bellingham contributed significantly to the team’s efforts, scoring six goals and providing five assists in 29 appearances.
Alonso himself acknowledged the disappointing outcome of his managerial stint, saying, “This professional stage is over, and it didn’t go as we would have liked. Coaching Real Madrid has been an honor and a responsibility. I leave with respect, gratitude, and pride that I did my best.”
At the time of his departure, Real Madrid was placed second in La Liga, trailing Barcelona by four points. While Alonso had a commendable 71% win rate, his tenure featured several disappointing performances, including a series of high-profile defeats that turned fan sentiment against the team.
As uncertainties swirl around management and team dynamics, Bellingham’s emphatic rebuke underlines the pressures athletes face in the public eye, with their words often wielding considerable weight in the world of football. In a sport where narratives can shift rapidly, his stand against unfounded speculation serves as a reminder of the fragility of reputation and the power of the narrative.
