Judd Trump embarks on new chapter with international lifestyle changes
Snooker star Judd Trump is preparing to defend his UK Championship title amidst a significant transformation in his personal life, as he has relocated from Bristol to reside in Dubai and Hong Kong, reports BritPanorama.
The 35-year-old athlete boasts an impressive 30 ranking titles, placing him fourth on the all-time list, trailing only Ronnie O’Sullivan, Stephen Hendry, and John Higgins. His achievements include five Triple Crown titles and the 2019 World Championship win at the Crucible. Recently, Trump reached the semi-finals of this year’s World Championships but was eliminated by Mark Williams with a score of 17-14.
Trump’s decision to establish residences overseas indicates a bold departure from his prior lifestyle. He has confirmed that practice tables are being removed from the UK, marking a significant commitment to this new phase. “My practice tables are getting taken out next week so it’s pretty permanent now,” Trump expressed.
Maintaining homes in both Dubai and Hong Kong, Trump splits his time based on tournament schedules. “My main base will be in Dubai but my girlfriend lives in Hong Kong. I have residence in both Dubai and Hong Kong so I’ll be split between them depending on where the tournaments are,” he explained. This dramatic lifestyle change contrasts sharply with his previous routine of training and spending evenings at home.
Trump’s partner, figure skater and television presenter Maisy Ma, who is ten years younger, has opted for relative privacy in their relationship, refraining from sharing photos together on social media. Ma has achieved success in skating, securing multiple medals, and is engaged in various hosting roles, including coverage of the Paris Olympics.
“She’s used to being in the limelight herself, she still does TV work. It’s a good balance because she knows what I’m going through, I think that helps as well,” Trump commented about their relationship.
Financially, Trump has enjoyed significant success, with an estimated net worth of around £10 million and career earnings surpassing £8 million according to CueTracker. This season has proven particularly profitable, with £1.56 million accrued, including a £500,000 payout from his victory at the Saudi Arabia Masters and an additional £100,000 from his World Championship semi-final appearance.
This financial stability underpins Trump’s international lifestyle. The former lifestyle scrutiny, which saw promoter Barry Hearn label him a “part-time playboy,” has been firmly rebutted. “Barry Hearn has said there’s no time for playboys, but I’m not a playboy,” Trump stated in response to the ongoing discourse about his life choices.
Having recently exited a previous relationship with UAE equestrian Khadijah Misr, his new living arrangements seem integrated into a more fulfilled life. “It’s a more outdoorsy lifestyle… a lot more time after snooker to spend in the sun or go to the beach or whatever,” Trump noted, reflecting on this newfound balance.
With a shift in perspective accompanying the change in environment, Trump remarked, “Where I’m living as well, it makes it easier to accept defeat.” This statement underscores how lifestyle influences competitive mindset, illustrating the complex interplay between personal and professional realms in the world of elite sports.
