Jamie Vardy secures Bundesliga broadcasting rights
Jamie Vardy is preparing to make his mark in broadcasting after his podcast secured the rights to show live Bundesliga football, reports BritPanorama.
The former England and Leicester City striker, 39, has landed the agreement through Jamie Vardy’s Having A Party, overcoming competition from Gary Neville’s well-established The Overlap brand.
The deal represents a significant step forward for Vardy’s growing media career while he continues to play professionally. A dedicated television channel is being created with Samsung TV, and coverage will also be available through Amazon Prime, according to The Sun.
Live Bundesliga matches will form the centrepiece of the agreement, commencing with Friday evening fixtures at 7.30pm UK time. Vardy plans to combine match coverage with insights from his podcast, discussing key points with a variety of guests.
A source indicated that this is a substantial move for Vardy as he expands his broadcasting reach while still active in football. “He’s buzzing to reach Bundesliga fans and chat with star guests about action on the pitch,” the source noted.
Former Leicester teammates and celebrity friends are expected as guests, alongside Vardy’s wife, Becky, who will also appear on the programme. This project allows Vardy to showcase the personality that endeared him to football fans throughout his career.
Recent developments indicate that Vardy expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to engage with supporters while remaining a professional player. “Having the chance to chat football and have banter off the pitch is something that I am really looking forward to,” he said.
Currently without a club after leaving Serie A side Cremonese earlier this summer, Vardy has been linked with several teams. Sheffield Wednesday is considered the frontrunner for his signature, though a return to Leicester remains a topic of speculation, despite its unlikelihood.
Vardy’s new venture underscores the evolving relationship between professional athletes and media, illustrating how sporting figures seek to connect with their audiences beyond the pitch. The blend of entertainment and insight from established players like Vardy highlights how broadcasting and sport increasingly intertwine, making for an engaging viewing experience for fans.
