Jamie Vardy explores transfer options after leaving Italy

Jamie Vardy is weighing up his next move as the Premier League icon considers several potential destinations following his return from Italy, reports BritPanorama.

The 39-year-old remains a free agent after parting ways with Cremonese and appears to have no shortage of options as he deliberates on where to continue his career.

A return to England seemingly remains Vardy’s preference, with Sheffield Wednesday and West Ham emerging as potential destinations. However, an intriguing alternative has surfaced from Brazil, where Sao Paulo are reportedly interested in acquiring the former Leicester City striker.

Discussing the possibility of Vardy making the unexpected switch, talkSPORT’s Alex Crook stated, “That doesn’t surprise me because Jamie Vardy still looks in top physical condition. He did pretty well over in Italy. I think he’d prefer a return to English football, but I wouldn’t totally rule out a move to Brazil.”

Wednesday, Vardy’s boyhood club, would offer him the chance to represent them, although financial considerations could pose significant challenges. Owls chairman David Storch expressed his enthusiasm, stating he would be “thrilled” to sign Vardy and noted that the club are “trying to figure out” whether they can navigate their financial restrictions to construct an acceptable offer.

Meanwhile, West Ham has also expressed interest in bringing Vardy back to English football. The Hammers had inquired about him prior to the Championship campaign, as manager Nuno Espirito Santo seeks to bolster his attacking options. However, Vardy is not the only striker on West Ham’s radar, with other targets including former Tottenham forward Troy Parrott and Leeds United’s Joel Piroe.

There was considerable excitement among Leicester supporters earlier this summer when Vardy was seen back at his former club, training in Leicester gear, which ignited speculation of a potential reunion. However, it was clarified that Vardy was merely assessing his fitness and that no deal was being lined up.

His search for a new club follows a solitary season in Italy with Cremonese, where he scored seven goals and provided three assists in 29 appearances, ultimately unable to avert the club’s relegation from Serie A. Rumour has it that he may have considered extending his stay had Cremonese avoided falling out of the top flight.

As Vardy navigates the waters of contract negotiations, the prospect of his next chapter in football remains one of intrigue, with England’s clubs and Brazil now on the radar. Football’s winding paths often lead to unexpected destinations, and Vardy’s future will undoubtedly continue to captivate fans.
