Harry Maguire seen selling Panini stickers in New York

Harry Maguire has been spotted in New York selling Panini football stickers after being left out of the England World Cup squad, reports BritPanorama.

The Manchester United defender was recorded speaking with fans inside a Panini football van by the Rockefeller Centre. Two young fans who recorded the footage expressed disbelief at seeing the £80 million player, with one stating, “What is Harry Maguire doing here?”

Maguire, who has represented England 66 times, described his omission from Thomas Tuchel’s squad as “shocked and gutted.” He has played a key role in United’s defensive performance under interim manager Michael Carrick, with the club suffering only two Premier League defeats since the turn of the year.

In a statement posted on social media, Maguire said, “I was confident I could have played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision.” He added that representing his country has held significant meaning for him throughout his international career, stating, “I’ve loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country over the years.”

Maguire acknowledged that Tuchel communicated his decisions via FaceTime, which he found daunting. “It was quite an awkward call. I received a text saying can I speak to you about 4pm,” he explained.

During his interview, he shared that he felt he had done enough to earn a place in the squad, expressing disappointment at not being included. He reflected on Tuchel’s reasoning, stating, “He said he can’t give me an excuse, but he had gone with the four lads who got him through the autumn.”

Maguire’s strong performances during England’s March camp had raised expectations for his inclusion, and he concluded, “I did think I would be in the squad after being selected for the March camp under him for the first time. I did really well in both games and then went back to Manchester United and finished the season really strongly.”

For a player of Maguire’s calibre, being left out of the national team is always a bitter pill to swallow. Yet, in a sport where fortunes can shift in an instant, his resolve to rise above this setback and engage with fans may offer a glimpse of his character moving forward.
