England and Scotland World Cup group game venues confirmed
England and Scotland fans have found out where their World Cup group games will be played when the tournament kicks off in the summer, reports BritPanorama.
England, who are in Group L, will begin their tournament against Croatia in Dallas on June 17. Their next group match will see them face Ghana in Boston on June 23, before concluding the initial stage against Panama in New Jersey on June 27.
Scotland’s Group C campaign begins earlier, with Steve Clarke’s side clashing with Haiti in Boston on June 13. They will remain in Boston for their second match against Morocco on June 19, followed by a final group fixture against Brazil in Miami on June 24.
Supporters are now expected to begin arranging their transatlantic travel plans. Meanwhile, Wales and Northern Ireland find themselves in a precarious position as both nations must navigate playoff routes to qualify for the tournament. The Welsh will first face Bosnia and Herzegovina in Cardiff, and a win would set up a subsequent playoff against either Italy or Northern Ireland. Should Rob Page’s side emerge victorious through both challenges, they would join Canada, Qatar, and Switzerland in Group B.
Northern Ireland’s path necessitates a win against Italy before potentially competing against Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina in a decisive match. Both teams are thus vying for a single remaining spot in Group B through the playoff system.
In a ceremony held on Friday, the groups were drawn amid notable events, including President Donald Trump receiving the Fifa Peace Prize. The upcoming 2026 World Cup will introduce a new 48-team format, shifting from the traditional 32-team structure, marking an increase in competition as the tournament expands to accommodate more participants.
The competition will now feature 12 groups of four, with the top two from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, advancing to a Round of 32 — making it the largest World Cup in history with a total of 104 matches.
As fans await the tournament, the anticipation is palpable, underscoring what is set to be a pivotal season for international football across the globe.
