Carl Froch has managed to secure attendance at the fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul early on Saturday morning, despite a longstanding feud with the latter, reports BritPanorama.
Froch, a vocal critic of Paul since the latter turned professional in 2020, had previously stated that he had been banned from the event at the Kaseya Center. On his YouTube channel, he detailed his attempts to gain media access, expressing frustration about his treatment.
“We’ve gone down the correct channels and applied for media accreditation so we can attend the press conference and the weigh-in as journalists,” Froch noted. He emphasized the importance of his channel, stating, “Froch on Fighting, the biggest channel in the business – the most viewed channel in the business – they should want this channel there reporting on this joke shop event.”
Despite being informed of the rejection and the reasons provided in a templated email, Froch has confirmed that he will indeed attend the fight. According to The Sun, he has been invited to watch from ringside. The 48-year-old former champion is likely to be rooting for Joshua to prevail, given his standing as the favourite.
This fight has sparked significant controversy within boxing circles, largely due to the contrasting backgrounds of the competitors. Joshua, a two-time world champion and Olympic medalist, faces Paul, who first rose to fame through Disney Channel and YouTube. Joshua has publicly stated that he intends to fight seriously and not underestimate Paul, whose sole career loss occurred in 2023 against Tommy Fury. “It’s my job, we fight. We have a licence to kill,” Joshua remarked, reflecting the mentality fighters must maintain in the ring. “Whatever happens, happens — as long as my hand is raised, that’s what’s important, respectfully.”
