Virginia Giuffre’s memoir revives accusations against Prince Andrew amid ongoing Epstein fallout

The memoir of Virginia Giuffre, titled “Nobody’s Girl”, has ignited a renewed wave of accusations against Prince Andrew, coinciding with ongoing scrutiny of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. The book quickly rose to No. 1 on Amazon’s bestseller list before its publication, reports BritPanorama.

In her memoir, Giuffre recounts her initial encounter with Andrew in March 2001 and alleges that the royal’s aides attempted to hire “internet trolls” to harass her during her legal battle with him years later.

Accounts of three interactions with Andrew

Giuffre has long maintained that she was recruited at age 16 by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, who introduced her to Andrew when she was 17. She claims to have been forced to engage in sexual encounters with the royal on three separate occasions.

She details that on the day of their first meeting, Maxwell awoke her with the promise of a “special day,” likening it to “Cinderella” meeting her prince. Giuffre recalls that when they met, Andrew remarked that “my daughters are just a little younger than you.” Maxwell allegedly instructed Giuffre to “do for him what you do for Jeffrey,” leading Giuffre to assert that she felt compelled to comply. Following their encounter, Epstein reportedly paid her $15,000.

Giuffre states that she had sexual relations with Andrew a second time at Epstein’s home in New York approximately a month later, and a third time on Epstein’s private island alongside several other underage girls.

2022 lawsuit settlement

Previously, Giuffre elaborated on her experiences in a lawsuit filed in New York in 2021, wherein she accused Epstein, Maxwell, and Andrew of coercing her into sexual acts against her will. Andrew reached a settlement with Giuffre in 2022, the terms of which remain undisclosed. While he did not admit to any wrongdoing, he acknowledged Giuffre’s victimization and agreed to contribute to her charity.

In reflecting on the settlement, Giuffre expressed that Andrew, after undermining her credibility and attempting to employ harassment tactics against her, owed her a “meaningful apology.”

“We would never get a confession, of course. That’s what settlements are designed to avoid,” she remarked, adding, “But we were trying for the next best thing: a general acknowledgment of what I’d been through.”

New allegations

As the son of the late Queen Elizabeth II, Andrew has already retreated from public life since 2019 following backlash over his links to Epstein. His attempt to clarify these connections during a BBC interview further attracted criticism, in which he denied ever having sexual contact with Giuffre, professed a lack of memory regarding meeting her, and dismissed a widely circulated photograph of the two as inconsequential.

Recent reports have surfaced, suggesting Andrew maintained contact with Epstein longer than previously disclosed. An email dated February 28, 2011, highlights a statement from Andrew indicating that “we’re in this together” and that they would “have to rise above it.”

Additionally, London’s Metropolitan Police have begun investigating an allegation that Andrew had requested one of his police bodyguards to inquire into Giuffre’s background in 2011.

As calls mount for Buckingham Palace and the UK government to formally revoke Andrew’s titles and expel him from his residence near Windsor Castle, the situation underscores the continuing fallout of the royal’s association with Epstein and the broader implications for the monarchy.

Ghostwriter Amy Wallace, who collaborated with Giuffre on the memoir, stated that Andrew should testify in the US regarding what he knows about Epstein’s crimes. She commended Giuffre for her courage in bringing attention to the circumstances surrounding her experiences and the impact on Andrew’s title.
