Visitors who have the opportunity to enter the United Kingdom without a visa must pay 10 pounds or 12 euros – but this price will only be valid in the first week. Starting April 9, the cost of the digital pass will increase to 16 pounds. An exception is made for Irish citizens – they can travel for free.
The ETA electronic permit system for non-Europeans, including citizens of the United States, Canada and Australia, has been in effect since last year. London is convinced that it allows “increased security through technology and innovation”.
You can purchase permission through the mobile application – the traveler needs photos, biographical data and answers to questions about compliance with the travel criteria and the absence of problems with the law. The process takes a few minutes, most decisions are made automatically. The issued pass is tied to the passport and gives the opportunity to stay in the UK for 6 months for 2 years.
