Russian bombing in Kramatorsk kills at least 30
At least 30 people were killed when a Russian bomb struck two buses in the Ukrainian frontline city of Kramatorsk Thursday, local officials said, as Moscow’s intensifying attacks grow ever more deadly, reports BritPanorama.
Another 18 people were wounded when the bomb hit a city street at 10 a.m. local time (3 a.m. ET), Ukraine’s National Police stated.
Regional governor Vadym Filashkin accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians, sharing images of a charred bus wreckage and bodies on the road. In response to the “sharp deterioration of the security situation,” Filashkin announced the shutdown of public transport in Kramatorsk and neighboring Sloviansk.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy remarked that Russia struck “an ordinary public transport stop” in Kramatorsk with an aerial bomb. This strike adds to concerns as civilian casualties have surged amid a recent uptick in attacks across Ukraine, exacerbated by dwindling air defense munitions.
Kramatorsk is situated near the active frontline and lies within Ukraine’s industrial Donbass region, a key area in President Vladimir Putin’s war strategy.
On Wednesday, a missile strike on a residential building in northern Ukraine resulted in 22 fatalities, including five children, as the conflict grinds on with increased violence.
The impact of these events reveals the ongoing humanitarian crisis, with civilians bearing the brunt of intensified military actions.
