Tottenham and Everton reach agreement for Iliman Ndiaye's move amid Richarlison swap discussions

Tottenham and Everton agree on player transfers

Tottenham and Everton have struck an agreement in principle that will see Iliman Ndiaye head to north London while Richarlison makes a return to Merseyside, reports BritPanorama.

The transactions are structured as individual transfers rather than a formal swap arrangement, though they have been negotiated simultaneously between the clubs.

Both deals hinge on the players reaching agreements over personal terms and successfully completing medical examinations.

With the summer transfer window closing at 11pm on Tuesday, 1 September, both clubs are optimistic about concluding all outstanding details within the next 48 hours.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 26-year-old Senegalese attacker Ndiaye has already signalled his willingness to join Spurs. Richarlison was excluded from Spurs’ matchday squad for their recent 2-0 loss to Newcastle, with manager Roberto De Zerbi confirming that the Brazilian expressed a clear desire to leave.

“He said too many times [that] he wants to leave,” De Zerbi stated. He also noted that Kevin Danso and Pape Matar Sarr had approached him with transfer requests, although Sarr is currently dealing with a minor injury. De Zerbi made it clear that no player will be held against their will but emphasized the importance of a feasible financial solution from the players for transfer agreements to progress.

Ndiaye has rejected several contract extension offers from Everton over the past year, indicating that he perceives his future lies away from the club. Richarlison, also 26, had garnered interest from Manchester City and Arsenal recently, but it is Tottenham who have secured his agreement.

Earlier this summer, Everton were reportedly seeking around £80 million for Ndiaye, while Spurs valued Richarlison at approximately £30 million, suggesting a cash adjustment could be involved. Richarlison is entering the final year of his contract after scoring 53 goals and providing 15 assists in 152 appearances for the Toffees following his £60 million move to Tottenham in 2022.

As clubs scramble to finalize deals before the window closes, the dynamics around these high-profile player transfers exemplify the relentless nature of modern football. It’s a dance of ambition and negotiations, where the stakes are pointedly high, hinting at the pressures managers face as they sculpt their squads for the upcoming season.
