Russia has successfully tested a nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile that could reach the US, its defence ministry has announced, reports BritPanorama. The missile, boasting a range of more than 6,700 kilometres, was launched from the Arkhangelsk region in the country’s northwest, hitting its target in the Kura test site located in Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka region.
This test follows a recent visit by CIA Director John Ratcliffe to Moscow, during which he reportedly cautioned Russia against any attack on NATO member nations. The Kremlin has stated that Ratcliffe did not meet with President Vladimir Putin during this visit.
In tandem, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has directed his military to ramp up its long-range drone strikes against Russia to 1,000 per day, a significant increase from the current level of around 300. Zelensky disclosed that the United States had provided Kyiv with intelligence about several meetings that took place in Moscow over the past days.
In a Telegram post, Zelensky wrote: “Today we received information from the American side about the meetings in Moscow that took place these days. There were a number of meetings there.” This update coincides with the ongoing conflict, which continues to escalate, affecting civilian life and economic stability in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities confirmed that at least 27 individuals were killed following a Russian drone strike on a warehouse in the Kyiv region, which ignited a subsequent explosion. Another 42 were reported injured, with over 380 people evacuated from the affected Bucha district, which sustained damage to at least 50 residential buildings.
These events come as Ukraine endures a prolonged conflict with Russia, now entering its fifth year since the full-scale invasion commenced in 2022. The situation remains fluid, reflecting ongoing military actions and geopolitical tensions across the region.
