Danish prime minister responds to unsolicited beauty advice

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has criticized unsolicited beauty advice she received upon returning from a trip to Ukraine, where she was exposed to air raid sirens amid the ongoing conflict, reports BritPanorama.

Frederiksen shared on Instagram that she was greeted by a message from a plastic surgeon suggesting cosmetic improvements to her appearance, including a “fix” for a spot on her nose. The 48-year-old leader expressed her frustration, revealing that she has received numerous similar messages over the years, some of which she described as critiques of her teeth and hair.

The prime minister highlighted the unsolicited nature of these messages, which ranged from comments about her looks to suggestions for procedures such as Botox. She shared a screenshot of the surgeon’s offer while opting not to disclose his identity.

In her response on social media, Frederiksen firmly stated, “Oh no. I’m happy with my body — I really don’t need a male plastic surgeon to have an opinion about it!”

Frederiksen is Denmark’s second female prime minister and is currently in her third term, a tenure that has made her one of Europe’s most prominent political figures since she assumed office in mid-2019. She has consistently maintained a strong stance against U.S. President Donald Trump’s interest in Greenland and has demonstrated unwavering support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.

Furthermore, Frederiksen emphasized her belief in body positivity, saying she does not interfere in how others choose to look, and she remarked, “I’m perfectly fine with my body — as it is when you’re a woman approaching 50.”

She encouraged individuals reaching out to her to engage in discussions of greater significance, urging them to focus on topics beyond superficial appearances. Frederiksen deemed the unsolicited beauty tips she received as indignities she hopes others do not have to endure, reinforcing her messages of self-acceptance and resilience.

In an age where social media amplifies scrutiny over personal appearance, Frederiksen’s remarks resonate as a reminder of the pressure many public figures face, often leading to dialogues about body image and societal expectations.
