Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk cleared to return to football
Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk has been informed that he is permitted to resume his football career after resolving his doping case with the Football Association (FA), having not played a competitive match since 2024, reports BritPanorama.
The 23-year-old player was initially handed a four-year ban by the FA, which he appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Following the appeal, the FA confirmed that he can return to playing competitively “with immediate effect”.
An emotional Mudryk expressed his relief in a statement on social media, stating, “After a long battle, the four-year ban that was imposed on me has been rescinded and I am free to resume my career with immediate effect.” He highlighted the difficulty of the past period, asserting, “This has been the most difficult period of my career.”
In his statement, Mudryk reiterated his commitment to fair play, asserting, “I have never knowingly or intentionally taken any banned substance. My commitment to competing fairly and representing my club and country with professionalism and integrity has always been important to me.”
He also thanked his family, friends, Chelsea FC, and his legal team for their unwavering support throughout the ordeal. “I look forward to the next chapter of my career,” Mudryk concluded.
Chelsea FC expressed support for their player, commending him for handling the situation “both professionally and personally”. The club noted advances in scientific reporting standards, which suggest that had Mudryk’s sample been assessed under the current technical requirements, it would have not produced a positive result.
The club stated, “We have always supported Misha throughout this process while fully respecting the integrity of the anti-doping system and the legal process.” They conveyed their commitment to supporting Mudryk’s reintegration into the squad as he resumes his career.
