Community support for Kidderminster Harriers’ players
Residents near non-league club Kidderminster Harriers have united to offer rooms for some of the team’s players following an appeal from the club, reports BritPanorama.
The Worcestershire club, competing in the National League after achieving promotion from the sixth tier last season, reached out last week to those with a “comfortable bedroom with appropriate living facilities” to assist in providing accommodation.
Manager Paul Wotton, who has a notable history with Plymouth Argyle, expressed gratitude for the community’s response, noting the necessity of a supportive environment as the team adapts to their new league status. He remarked, “When we asked for help, the response has been magnificent. It’s a fantastic football club, and we’ve got lots of people wanting to help us out.”
Wotton further emphasised the importance of player care beyond the pitch. “It’s crucial that they have time off from that,” he said, acknowledging the balance players need between sports commitments and personal well-being. He believes the rented rooms will provide an ideal setting for players to unwind, separate from football discussions.
The club assured that they would continue support for those providing accommodation, indicating that the need would persist throughout the season. This initiative reflects a commendable community spirit and aims to establish a stable foundation for the players as they face increased competition.
