Jarrod Bowen commits to West Ham amid transfer speculation
Jarrod Bowen has decided to stay at West Ham after being linked with moves away from the club, reports BritPanorama.
The Hammers’ captain has reportedly signed a revised contract, committing his future to the London Stadium. West Ham have been desperate to keep Bowen, who scored 11 goals and registered 12 assists last season.
Following the announcement, Bowen sent a message to Hammers fans, stating, “The main motivation for me is staying and bringing this club back into the Premier League where we belong.”
West Ham faced relegation last season on the final day, relying on Tottenham to drop points against Everton to secure their own survival. Bowen commented on the past struggles, acknowledging the disappointment: “Ultimately it hurt everyone, and it should hurt everyone because it was such a disappointing thing that happened.”
Reflecting on the club’s future, Bowen expressed a strong desire to be part of West Ham’s revival, following conversations with club figures regarding their ambitions. “I flew out to Prague in [the] Czech Republic to meet Daniel [Kretinsky] and Jiri, and the ambition that I got from them interests me a lot,” he said.
Bowen has been a key player for West Ham, commemorated for scoring the winning goal in the Conference League final against Fiorentina in 2023. He remarked on his growth at the club: “I’ve been here six and a half years, and obviously transitioned from a boy really from the Championship into a man now, captain of the club, which is a huge honour.”
As West Ham gears up for the upcoming campaign, Bowen is focused on fostering a strong team culture. He stated, “It’s about what environment we want to create because when things are hard, we have to put our arm around each other.”
With aspirations to return to the Premier League, Bowen expressed a clear sense of purpose for the season ahead: “For me now, that’s getting this club back into the Premier League.”
