Sir Alex Ferguson makes first public appearance since health scare

Sir Alex Ferguson has made his first public appearance since being rushed to hospital last month, and fans will be delighted to see the legendary manager looking well, reports BritPanorama.

The 84-year-old was spotted beaming at a restaurant in Wilmslow, Manchester, where he happily posed for photographs with supporter Vimal Devassy. This sight comes after Ferguson had not been seen publicly since his health scare on May 3rd.

Ferguson was taken to hospital by ambulance roughly an hour before Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool, although it was not deemed an emergency situation. He was discharged soon after and has been recovering at home.

Devassy, who works at the restaurant, shared the photograph on Instagram, expressing the significance of the encounter. “Not every photo tells a story – some capture a feeling. I wasn’t shaking because I met a football legend,” he wrote. “I was shaking because I was standing beside a man who helped shape the journey of my idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.”

This moment resonated with many, even as Devassy admitted he is not the biggest Manchester United fan, emphasizing his admiration for Ferguson’s impactful relationship with Ronaldo. League Managers’ Association chief executive Richard Bevan confirmed that Ferguson is “on the mend” following his absence from the annual awards ceremony.

During the ceremony, England boss Thomas Tuchel presented the Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy to Manager of the Year winner Frank Lampard, reading a letter penned by Ferguson himself. “It is, of course, not the same without Sir Alex himself, and we wish him all the best and a speedy recovery so that he is hopefully with us next year on stage again,” Tuchel remarked.

Ferguson, widely regarded as Manchester United’s greatest-ever manager, has an impressive legacy that includes 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies during his remarkable 26-year reign before retiring in 2013.

As Ferguson continues to recover, this public appearance not only reassures fans but serves as a reminder of the enduring impact he has had on football and its community.
