In the early hours of April 24, 2025, Russia launched a massive combined attack on Kyiv using kamikaze drones, Kalibr cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.

The assault began around 1:00 a.m., when a series of explosions echoed across the capital.

Key consequences of the attack:

  • Casualties: As of 3:40 a.m., one person was confirmed dead and 50 injured. Among the wounded were six children and a pregnant woman. Fifteen people received medical assistance on-site, while others were hospitalized.
  • Fires and destruction: The hardest-hit area was Sviatoshynskyi District, where fires broke out at six locations. Fires and damage were also reported in Holosiivskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Podilskyi districts.
  • Infrastructure damage: In Sviatoshynskyi District, a residential building caught fire and partially collapsed, trapping people under the rubble.

This attack became one of the largest in recent months and occurred on the eve of key international talks in London — potentially signaling an attempt by Russia to increase pressure on Ukraine and its Western allies.

Emergency services continue to respond to the aftermath and assist victims.
