The claim that Ukraine will not lose the war is not only the position of the Ukrainian leadership. Influential global leaders, particularly representatives of the United States, share this confidence in Ukraine’s resilience. Among them is Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who has openly stated that talk of Ukraine’s inevitable defeat is part of Russia’s disinformation campaign and bears no relation to the actual situation on the battlefield.
Senator Lindsey Graham firmly believes that the narrative of Ukraine’s defeat in the war with Russia is nothing more than a component of the Kremlin’s information warfare. According to him, these narratives do not reflect reality and are actively spread by Moscow to undermine faith in Ukraine’s resilience and reduce the level of support from its European allies.
“Just look at the map. If you compare the situation a year ago to now — it has barely changed. Ukraine is holding the line. All this talk about Ukraine losing — it’s Russian propaganda,” the senator stressed.
Graham also announced his intention to discuss with European partners the possibility of lowering the price cap on Russian oil. In his view, such a decision could severely impact the Russian economy and the production capacity of its military machine.
“If Europe follows through with this, the consequences will be tangible. It would genuinely weaken Russia’s ability to finance its aggression. And furthermore, we need to align our sanctions policy on China. The Senate is preparing to take decisive action,” Graham said.
He also mentioned that next week the Senate would hold a briefing with Ukrainian representatives to discuss new support initiatives for Ukraine.
“We’re heading back to Washington to inform our colleagues. I’ll personally speak with the majority leader, who will then speak to the minority leader, Senator Schumer. We need to act in a coordinated way,” he explained.
Graham also criticised Russia for simulating peace initiatives. According to him, the Kremlin uses negotiations solely as a delay tactic, with no genuine intention of ceasing hostilities.
“President Trump wants peace — that’s one of his priorities. But peace is impossible without a responsible partner. Putin is not one. Ukraine, for its part, has met all requirements: it accepted an unconditional ceasefire and provided a list of steps it is ready to take towards peace. It’s Moscow that is stalling,” the senator remarked.
Graham warned that Russia is playing a war of attrition, hoping Ukraine’s allies will lose interest and stop providing support. However, according to the American politician, this strategy is doomed to fail.
“Ukraine will not lose. That is simply a myth promoted by Moscow. The reality is quite the opposite,” Lindsey Graham concluded.
Graham also pledged to discuss lowering the price of Russian oil with European allies. Additionally, he warned China against cooperating with Russia: “If you keep buying cheap Russian oil, we will impose a 500% tariff on all your goods exported to the United States.”
