ExpressVPN, one of the most popular VPN services worldwide, is facing growing criticism over delayed refund processing. Several users have reported waiting over 10–14 days for promised refunds, with no confirmation emails or clear updates from the support team.
“I’ve been told multiple times that my request is being ‘processed’ by the billing department, but after more than two weeks, I haven’t received either the refund or a proper explanation,” one affected customer shared after initially contacting support on June 16.
It’s important to note that ExpressVPN does not have access to the billing data of users who subscribed via the Apple App Store, and in such cases, directs customers to Apple for refund requests. However, when payments are made directly through ExpressVPN, the company is fully responsible for refund handling.
Heavy Volume or Systemic Breakdown?
According to company representatives, the delays may be due to a “high volume of inquiries,” which is affecting response times. However, frustrated customers argue that the lack of transparency and precise timelines is making the situation worse.
“Every time I start a chat, a different agent replies with the same message: ‘please wait.’ It feels like I’m talking to a script, not a real support system,” another user reported.
