West Brom sack Ryan Mason as head coach
West Bromwich Albion have sacked Ryan Mason as their head coach following a string of poor results that left the club in 18th place in the Championship, reports BritPanorama.
Mason’s tenure lasted seven months, culminating in a disappointing stoppage-time defeat against Leicester City on Monday, marking the team’s tenth consecutive away loss.
As part of the managerial changes, assistant coach Nigel Gibbs has also departed the club. West Brom’s next fixture sees them travelling to Swansea City for an FA Cup match on Sunday, with their next league game not scheduled until Middlesbrough visit The Hawthorns on January 16.
The club released a statement thanking Mason, Gibbs, and Sam for their contributions, stating, “The club would like to place on record its thanks to Ryan, Nigel and Sam for their efforts and wishes all three the very best for the future.” In the interim, first-team coach James Morrison will take charge until a new management team is appointed.
Mason, who previously held various roles at Tottenham, including interim manager, was appointed to a three-year contract but managed only 26 matches in total.
In the fast-paced world of football, managerial changes are often harsh but necessary; West Bromwich Albion’s decision underscores the pressure faced by clubs seeking to escape the relegation zone and find form as the season unfolds.
