Wayne Rooney’s humorous reason for vasectomy linked to children’s TV
Wayne Rooney has humorously attributed his decision to undergo a vasectomy to the popular children’s television character Mr Tumble, stating that he could not face watching the show with another child, reports BritPanorama.
During a recent episode of The Wayne Rooney Show, the former Manchester United star revealed that after enduring the programme multiple times with each of his sons, he reached his breaking point. “He’s the reason I got the snip! I couldn’t have another kid to go through it again,” Rooney quipped.
The conversation unfolded while discussing holidays when co-host Kelly Somers noted that Mr Tumble performs at Butlins. Rooney responded emphatically, declaring, “I hate Mr Tumble,” while expressing his frustration over years of endless viewing along with his children.
Rooney, now 40, underwent the vasectomy procedure in 2018, following the birth of his and Coleen’s fourth son, Cass. In a 2023 interview, Coleen revealed that the couple felt their family was complete after his birth, stating that when Wayne mentioned the vasectomy, it assured her there would be no more children.
Amidst laughter from the studio audience, Rooney’s comments sparked an amusing exchange with his co-hosts, as well as reactions from viewers who shared their own experiences with children’s programming fatigue. Football content creator Steve Bracknell commented on Rooney’s revelation, suggesting it would make a headline: “Mr Tumble made me have the snip – Rooney.”
Beyond his candid remarks, the Rooney family remains in the public eye through their eldest son, Kai, 15, who continues to pursue a football career at Manchester United’s academy. The teenager, who joined the club in 2020, recently made headlines by scoring his first goal for the Under-18s, although he has since faced an injury setback.
In a world where family life and celebrity culture often collide, Rooney’s light-hearted take on parenting resonates with many, serving as a reminder of the everyday challenges faced by parents everywhere.
