Viktor Hovland goes public with new romance during Masters at Augusta National

Viktor Hovland reveals girlfriend at Augusta

Viktor Hovland, the Norwegian golfer long regarded as the sport’s perpetual bachelor, has finally put an end to years of speculation about his romantic life. The 28-year-old introduced his new partner, Tuva Dahl Jensen, to the world during Wednesday’s traditional par three contest at Augusta National, where she took on caddie duties for the occasion, reports BritPanorama.

Golf enthusiasts were sent into a frenzy on social media after the pair shared a kiss during the event. Hovland played the scenic course alongside European Ryder Cup teammates Matt Fitzpatrick and Ludvig Aberg, with Fitzpatrick accompanied by wife Katherine and Aberg joined by girlfriend Olivia Peet.

Jensen, who is 27 years old, hails from the city of Fredrikstad in her compatriot’s homeland. She currently works as a Norwegian language teacher at the Children’s International School in Moss, situated near the capital Oslo. Her identity was swiftly uncovered by fans following the Augusta appearance, with Norwegian publication Dagbladet reporting details of her background.

Jensen comes from a family with entertainment connections, being the daughter of revue performer Atle Jensen and Jeanett Dahl Jensen. This revelation marks a significant moment for Hovland, whose relationship status has been a source of curiosity among golf supporters for several years. He has previously made light of his bachelor status on multiple occasions.

Following Europe’s triumphant Ryder Cup campaign in Rome during 2023, Hovland was notably the sole unmarried player in the victorious squad. He gamely posed for a photograph alongside his teammates’ spouses, embracing the humour of the situation. With the par three contest concluded, Hovland now shifts his focus to Thursday’s opening round at Augusta.

His Masters journey began in 2019 when he competed as an amateur, claiming the low amateur honour with a tied 32nd place finish. The Norwegian has since appeared in five editions of the tournament, producing mixed results. A tied 21st in 2021 was followed by tied 27th the subsequent year, before he achieved his second career top-ten major finish with a share of seventh place in 2023. However, he failed to make the cut in 2024 and recorded another tied 21st last year.

His current campaign has yielded just one top-ten result from six starts. Bookmakers have Hovland tied for 19th in the outright betting.

As Hovland gets ready to face the challenge of Augusta, his new chapter off the course adds another layer of intrigue to his performance. It underscores how, in the world of sport, personal milestones often intersect with professional aspirations.
