Vardy family's Italian villa broken into by robbers during football match in Rome

Jamie and Rebekah Vardy’s villa targeted by thieves in Italy

Jamie and Rebekah Vardy’s Italian villa has reportedly been vandalised, with robbers stealing valuables worth £80,000, reports BritPanorama.

The renowned England striker moved to Italy in September 2025 to join Serie A club Cremonese after his tenure at Leicester City ended. The robbery took place during Vardy’s match in Rome, where his team suffered a 3-1 defeat.

The couple’s £2 million villa is situated on the scenic shores of Lake Garda in the Italian Alps. A police source indicated the robbery appeared to be premeditated, with the thieves timing their break-in while Vardy was away. They entered through an open window and absconded with high-value items, including a Patek Philippe watch, cash, and jewellery.

Captain Giacomo Tessarolo of the local carabinieri in Salo confirmed the presence of CCTV footage showing the break-in. “We have CCTV which shows one individual entering the house through a window that was left open,” he stated. “They were on the premises for several minutes before escaping with the watch and several other high-value items.”

The couple’s babysitter was present during the incident, but Rebekah Vardy was not at the villa. The theft was discovered by friends returning to the property, who found signs of a break-in. Jamie Vardy, lauded for his remarkable career at Leicester City, including a Premier League title and an FA Cup victory, has settled into life in Italy. Since his move, he has played eight matches for Cremonese, scoring twice and receiving two yellow cards, with his first goal coming against Atalanta last month.

Such break-ins targeting professional footballers have prompted concern, as several high-profile athletes, including Raheem Sterling and Alexander Isak, have faced similar situations. With the Vardys now among them, this troubling trend in the world of football continues.

Even as Vardy attempts to carve out a new chapter in Italy, these incidents serve as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities that accompany fame and wealth in any profession. The contrast between the glamour of elite football and the harsh reality of security threats is ever apparent, making for a sobering narrative against the idyllic backdrop of the Italian Alps.
