Tiger Woods arrested on DUI suspicion after car crash
Tiger Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a serious accident in Jupiter Island, Florida, last Friday, reports BritPanorama.
The high-profile golfer’s Land Rover reportedly overturned during the incident, which occurred when Woods, 50, attempted to pass a truck and trailer at speed, clipping the rear of the vehicle and causing his SUV to tip onto its side. At the time of the crash, Woods was driving alone, and neither his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, nor her children were present.
Sheriff John Budensiek confirmed that while Woods registered zero on a breathalyser test, he declined to submit a urine sample, which led to charges of DUI. During a press conference, Budensiek stated: “When it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test, he refused, and so he’s been charged with DUI.” Police noted he appeared under the influence of “some type of medication or drug.”
A source close to Woods revealed that he is “very apologetic” and keen to address the situation, which has reportedly left Vanessa “disappointed and a little bit p****d.” The pair first publicly acknowledged their relationship in March 2025. President Trump has expressed his happiness for the couple.
Woods, who has faced multiple driving incidents, has had restrictions placed on him by the Secret Service, which previously prohibited him from driving Vanessa’s five children. Observers speculate that the current situation could jeopardize his anticipated return to competitive play at the Masters next month, a tournament he has won five times.
This incident adds another chapter to Woods’s tumultuous relationship with the sport, as he aims to overcome his challenges and return to form. All eyes will be on how he navigates this latest setback, and what it means for his legacy in the golfing world.
