Tiger Woods arrested for DUI following crash
Tiger Woods was apprehended on Friday after a crash involving his SUV in Jupiter Island, Florida, during which he attempted to overtake a truck, resulting in significant damage to his vehicle, reports BritPanorama.
The incident occurred on a residential roadway, leading Woods to collide with the rear of the truck, causing his vehicle to flip onto its side. The 50-year-old golfer exited through the passenger window but declined to provide a urine sample to responding officers.
Woods faced charges of driving under the influence, property damage, and refusing to submit to a lawful test. Authorities released his mugshot later that evening, revealing visibly puffy and bloodshot eyes. He was released on bond approximately an hour after being taken into custody.
Sheriff John Budensiek noted that while Woods was cooperative, he was cautious not to incriminate himself during questioning. Although Woods registered “triple zeros” on a breathalyser test, indicating no alcohol consumption, drug recognition experts suggested he may have been impaired by medication or drugs.
The golfer’s refusal of urine testing, both at the scene and later at the jail, complicates any definitive assessment of his impairment at the time of the incident. “We will never get definitive results as to what he was impaired on at the time of the crash,” Sheriff Budensiek remarked.
