Tyson Fury moves family to Isle of Man amid concerns over new UK tax measures

Tyson Fury relocates to the Isle of Man amidst tax changes

Tyson Fury has departed Britain for the Isle of Man in what appears to be a direct response to Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ budget measures targeting wealthy individuals, reports BritPanorama.

The two-time world heavyweight champion, aged 37, has moved his family from their longtime residence in Morecambe, Lancashire, to a six-bedroom property valued at £8 million located near Douglas.

Companies House filings dated 1 December confirm that the boxer has officially changed his country of residence to the self-governing Crown Dependency. His wife, Paris, 36, has made a similar update to her business records. The couple, who have seven children, had listed England as their place of residence as recently as July this year.

The financial incentives for this move are notable. While UK higher-rate taxpayers face a 40 per cent income tax burden, with those earning above £125,140 paying 45 per cent, the Isle of Man charges just 21 per cent at its top rate. More significantly, the Crown Dependency imposes no capital gains tax or inheritance tax.

The Isle of Man also enforces a ceiling on personal income tax contributions, capped at £220,000 annually for individuals and £440,000 for married couples. According to wealth management firm Equiom’s 2024 report, tax residency requires either spending six months on the island in any tax year or averaging more than 90 days annually over four consecutive years.

A source indicated to The Sun, “Tyson has been telling pals that he has moved to the island.” Fury is reportedly quite fond of the Isle of Man, having expressed excitement about making it his home and even exploring schools for his children.

The timing of this departure aligns closely with Reeves’ introduction of a new levy on properties exceeding £2 million in value. Fury’s former home in Morecambe is understood to fall above this threshold.

In his professional capacity, Fury serves as the director of Tyson Fury Ltd, while Paris operates her own company, Paris Fury Ltd. The boxer’s presence on the Isle of Man has been confirmed through multiple public sightings, including an appearance on the Manxman ferry from Heysham, Lancashire, earlier this month.

As they settle into their new surrounds, the Fury family has been seen engaging with the local community. Recently, they dined out at a local establishment, spending £60 on jacket potatoes for the household, with Tyson ensuring there were enough for their party of nine.

In a move reflecting broader circumstances around wealth and taxation, Fury’s decision underscores the ongoing tension between high earners and government fiscal measures, illustrating how athletes navigate personal finance against the backdrop of public policy.
