Tyson Fury set for comeback clash against Arslanbek Makhmudov
Tyson Fury will return to the ring on April 11 against Arslanbek Makhmudov, with the latter’s promoter warning that he aims to force Fury back into retirement, reports BritPanorama.
The former world heavyweight champion, who had previously announced his retirement nearly a year ago, is eager to secure a third title. Fury sees Makhmudov—who recently triumphed over Dave Allen—as a fitting opponent for his comeback.
However, Makhmudov’s promoter, Camille Estephan, has stated that their objective is to achieve a decisive victory that could send Fury into retirement for good. “Our goal and objective is to send him to retirement, this time for real!” Estephan remarked.
Despite the challenges, Fury appears committed to his comeback. He has taken to social media to document his training regimen ahead of the fight, aiming to rejuvenate his career after a loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024. “April 11, 2026, let’s go!” Fury declared in one of his posts.
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has acknowledged the complexities surrounding this matchup. “It’s a tough, tough comeback fight for him,” Warren told Sky Sports, noting that Fury would be returning after nearly two years out of the ring. He emphasised Makhmudov could prove to be a significant challenge with his strong knockout record.
In a sport where returning from retirement is fraught with potential pitfalls, this bout promises to be a critical test for Fury as he seeks to validate his ambitions of reclaiming heavyweight glory.
As the build-up unfolds, the combustible nature of boxing remains evident, where even the strongest champions tread a thin line between comeback and collapse.
