Snoop Dogg's security accused of aggressive encounter with Dutch speed skating legend at Olympics

Marianne Timmer claims altercation with Snoop Dogg’s security at Winter Olympics

Dutch speed skating icon Marianne Timmer has alleged that security personnel accompanying Snoop Dogg shoved her against a wall during an altercation at the Winter Olympics in Milan on Wednesday, reports BritPanorama.

The incident reportedly took place as the 54-year-old American rapper was being escorted from the packed Milano Speed Skating Stadium following the 1,000m event.

Timmer, a celebrated figure in Dutch skating, claims she was waiting to conduct interviews with athletes when the confrontation occurred. She described the encounter in detail to Dutch outlet Sportnieuws: “I was standing against a wall, and one of the security guards pushed me even closer.”

According to Timmer, the guard returned and became aggressive towards her. “I said, ‘Just act normal,’ it’s a really wide hall, about four metres. But then the guy came back and I said, ‘What? Do I have to go through that wall or something?'” she recounted. Timmer suggested the security team had displayed a pattern of aggressive behaviour during the Games.

She also observed a nearby incident, recalling a Dutchman being roughly escorted away from the stands by large security guards. “I could just picture myself being grabbed by the neck and thrown out,” Timmer quipped, highlighting her concerns about the security’s approach.

Snoop Dogg is currently serving dual roles at the Games, acting as Team USA’s honorary coach while also working as a broadcaster for NBC. His role was announced by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee in December, describing it as focused on celebrating American athletes away from competition.

Dubbed “Coach Snoop,” the rapper has embraced the position enthusiastically, gaining attention for his participation in events such as curling and carrying the Olympic flame through Gallarate last week. However, his involvement is believed to be highly lucrative, with reports suggesting he earned approximately £393,000 daily for his NBC broadcasting work during the Paris 2024 Games.

As the Winter Games continue, the actions surrounding Snoop Dogg, both on and off the ice, serve as a reminder of the complex intersection between celebrity culture and elite sportsmanship. In a world where every move is scrutinised, the blend of celebration and tension unfolds poignantly.
