Former NFL player Sam Beal missing for seven months

The sister of former New York Giants defensive back Sam Beal has issued a heartfelt plea for assistance in locating her brother, who has not been seen for seven months, reports BritPanorama.

Essence Zhane took to Facebook on Monday to detail the family’s search for the 29-year-old former cornerback, stating, “Tomorrow makes it seven months since we’ve last heard from or seen my brother.” She emphasized their desperate need for support, noting, “We’ve done everything we could on our end to piece things together.”

Beal vanished from Virginia Beach, Virginia, on 13 July 2025, following an unclear sequence of events. Earlier that day, he had dropped his girlfriend at her family’s home and was supposed to use her vehicle to head to work but instead drove towards the coastal city.

His girlfriend received a last communication from Beal, who indicated he was in Virginia Beach and intended to return home. Since that encounter, no contact with family or friends has been established, and the girlfriend’s vehicle was later recovered with Beal’s shoes and socks found inside, along with traces of sand.

The circumstances surrounding the discovery of these items remain unexplained. Beal left with only minimal possessions: the clothing he wore, his wallet containing a bank card and driving licence, and a pair of slides. His profile, as noted in the missing persons database, indicates he stands at 6ft 2in and weighs around 185 pounds, with an athletic build, brown eyes, and black hair.

Beal’s NFL career commenced when the Giants selected him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft, following his tenure at Western Michigan University. Injuries plagued his early season, limiting his appearances, and he opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns, contributing to a sparse record before his release after the 2021 season.

Anyone with information regarding Beal’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Kentwood Police Department in Michigan at (616) 698-6580 or the Virginia Beach investigators at (757) 385-4101.

Among the echoes of past cheers for the athlete, the silence grows more profound with each passing day, reminding us of the fragility of both fame and family ties in the often-unforgiving landscape of professional sports.
