Ryan Giggs hints at future coaching return
Ryan Giggs has suggested that he could return to coaching in the future, nearly four years after leaving his position as Wales manager, reports BritPanorama.
The former Manchester United winger stepped down from his Wales role in June 2022 amid a court case, with Rob Page assuming management responsibilities.
Now aged 52, Giggs has indicated a desire to return to the dugout, although he remains uncertain about what form that might take. “If I don’t manage again, then it’s not the end of the world, but I feel like there’s some unfinished business regarding my coaching,” he stated.
Having previously enjoyed a successful playing career, during which he won 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League titles, Giggs also had a brief stint as a manager at Manchester United and served as an assistant under Louis van Gaal.
While keeping a low profile recently, he has expressed enthusiasm for returning to management, reflecting on the pressures and intensity of international football: “I loved every minute of it… Whether it’s club football or for a country, I want to be back in the dugout. I feel like I’ve got so much more to give. Like I say, unfinished business really.”
Giggs also discussed Manchester United, who have shown signs of resurgence since Michael Carrick took over following the departure of Ruben Amorim. The club is on track to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since the 2022/23 season, with Carrick’s future as manager still uncertain amid speculation involving several other candidates.
“He’s doing an unbelievable job,” Giggs praised Carrick. “The hardest thing in football is winning matches and Michael’s doing that. Not only that, he’s been really shrewd in his coaching staff.”
