Hodgson pleased with Bristol City draw at QPR
Roy Hodgson expressed satisfaction with his Bristol City side following a 0-0 draw at QPR, reports BritPanorama.
Since the 78-year-old former England boss took over as caretaker at the Championship side, the Robins have remained unbeaten. Hodgson highlighted the importance of building a solid defensive foundation, stating, “It’s a key priority in any team. When you come into a new club, one of the things you try to achieve is to get across that you’re not going to concede too many goals.” He noted that both teams effectively cancelled each other out in a match characterized by a tightly contested midfield.
Although neither side managed to find the back of the net, Bristol City appeared more threatening, as QPR goalkeeper Joe Walsh made key saves against Mark Sykes and Emil Riis. Hodgson remarked on a more adventurous second-half performance from his team, suggesting, “We could have scored a goal or two, but it was a fair result because neither team really did enough to win it.”
Meanwhile, QPR head coach Julien Stephan commended his players’ efforts despite the match’s lack of decisive moments. He stated, “The season is not finished… The players tried everything on the pitch, but sometimes you have less efficiency.” QPR extended their unbeaten streak to five matches, bolstered by the return of striker Rumarn Burrell, who made an impactful substitution after recovering from injury.
As the two teams look to find their footing as the season progresses, both managers acknowledge the significance of consistency and results in the remaining fixtures. Hodgson will oversee Bristol City’s final seven matches of the season, aiming to consolidate their position in the table. In an environment where every point counts, this draw raises questions about how both clubs will adapt as the competition intensifies.
