Ronaldo seeks reunion with Casemiro at Al-Nassr amid Messi's interest from Inter Miami

Ronaldo attempts to lure Casemiro to Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly attempting to persuade his former teammate Casemiro to reject a move to Inter Miami and instead reunite with him at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, reports BritPanorama.

The Portuguese forward considers the Brazilian midfielder crucial for enhancing his Saudi Pro League side’s competitiveness. Ronaldo’s intervention sets up a fascinating tug-of-war with his long-standing rival Lionel Messi, as the Argentinian and his side are also keen to bring Casemiro to Florida when the 34-year-old departs Manchester United at the end of this season.

The duo achieved significant success at Real Madrid, securing multiple Champions League titles together. Spanish outlet Marca claims that Ronaldo is eager to have his former teammate join him once more. Casemiro confirmed in January that this season would mark his final one at Old Trafford, following United’s decision not to activate a 12-month extension clause in his four-year deal.

The club’s choice was influenced by a desire to remove Casemiro’s substantial £375,000-per-week wages from their books. Since joining the Red Devils from Real Madrid during the summer of 2022, the defensive midfielder has made 155 appearances, scoring 24 goals and providing 14 assists. In his farewell statement, Casemiro expressed, “I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life. From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford.”

David Beckham’s MLS franchise has positioned Casemiro as their primary target following the 2026 World Cup, believing he would be an ideal successor to Sergio Busquets after the Spaniard’s retirement last year. Discussions between Inter Miami and Casemiro are reportedly at an advanced stage, with indications that the midfielder has visited Miami to inspect the club’s facilities and meet with officials.

Having previously taken a family holiday in Florida, Casemiro has indicated to friends that residing there is appealing. Should he choose to join Messi, it would represent a historic moment in football.

The financial aspect of Casemiro’s decision highlights a striking contrast between his two potential destinations. A move to Riyadh would provide the Brazilian with a significantly more lucrative financial package than what is available elsewhere, allowing him to secure one last major contract while playing alongside a trusted former colleague. Conversely, Inter Miami faces substantial challenges in matching such terms, as Casemiro’s current salary surpasses MLS regulations. The Beckham-owned club initially considered a summer approach financially unviable, although they remain open to exploring potential concessions that Casemiro might accept.

As the transfer saga unfolds, it reveals not only the complexities of modern football negotiations but also how the allure of warmer climates and significant financial incentives can sway decisions — a testament to how ambition and pragmatism often collide in the beautiful game.
