Ralf Schumacher's ex-wife offers congratulations as he prepares to marry partner in France

Ralf Schumacher prepares for wedding in the South of France

Ralf Schumacher is reportedly set to marry his partner Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne in May, two years after publicly coming out as gay, reports BritPanorama.

The former Formula One driver, aged 50, has chosen the South of France for the ceremony, with festivities planned to span three days in Saint-Tropez, a location where the couple frequently spends time.

In a departure from prior hostilities, Schumacher’s ex-wife, Cora Schumacher, has extended her best wishes to the couple. This public message may indicate an easing of tensions following their separation.

Speaking to German newspaper BILD, Cora expressed her sentiments alongside her current partner, American businessman Steven Bo Bekendam, stating: “Steven and I wish Ralf and Etienne all the best and much happiness.”

Ralf and Cora were married in Salzburg in 2001 but separated after 13 years, sharing a son, David, now 24. Their divorce generated significant media attention, particularly as Ralf revealed his same-sex relationship, which led to public disputes. At one point, Cora requested privacy to “heal in peace.”

Despite their turbulent past, Cora has addressed speculation regarding her feelings towards their relationship. Previously, she made clear that the idea of her ex-partner’s new relationship being a staged arrangement was unfounded, asserting she never agreed to such terms.

Moreover, BILD noted that Cora’s congratulations come despite her lack of direct communication with both Ralf and their son for an extended period. Observers have cited surprise at Ralf’s decision to remarry, recalling a remark he once made about second marriages.

Schumacher openly declared his love for Etienne in July 2024, marking a significant personal milestone over a decade post-separation from Cora. During his career in Formula One, he secured six race victories, 27 podium finishes, and six pole positions over 180 races.

As Ralf takes this bold step forward, the blend of personal history and evolving relationships reveals a poignant chapter, illustrating that even in the racing world, the lanes of love and life are complex and unpredictable.
