Premier League delivers thrilling action with 19 goals in three matches

Liverpool 5-2 West Ham

Liverpool delivered a ruthless, set-piece masterclass at Anfield to overpower West Ham, drawing level with fourth-placed Manchester United in the Premier League standings, reports BritPanorama.

Three first-half dead-ball situations effectively decided the contest. Inside five minutes, Ryan Gravenberch slipped in Hugo Ekitike, who finished sharply at the near post for his 16th goal of the campaign. Despite West Ham showing flashes of intent, Virgil van Dijk rose highest to convert Dominik Szoboszlai’s corner, punishing slack marking.

Alexis Mac Allister then struck a sweet, deflected volley just before half-time to make it 3-0, deflating the travelling support. The visitors responded after the interval, with Tomas Soucek converting from El Hadji Malick Diouf’s delivery to spark brief hope.

Cody Gakpo restored Liverpool’s cushion with a deflected effort before Taty Castellanos reduced the arrears again. However, any lingering doubt vanished when Jeremie Frimpong’s cross ricocheted off Axel Disasi for an own goal, sealing a five-star display and lifting Liverpool into fifth.

Newcastle 2-3 Everton

Thierno Barry emerged from the bench to deliver a decisive late blow as Everton shocked Newcastle United at St James’ Park, strengthening their bid for European qualification. David Moyes had framed the fixture as a defining moment in the run-in, stressing that aspirations of reaching the Europa League or Europa Conference League would require statement victories, and this was precisely that.

Everton matched Newcastle’s intensity and refused to retreat under pressure. The contest appeared to be drifting towards a draw when Jacob Murphy struck in the 82nd minute following earlier goals from Beto, Jacob Ramsey, and Jarrad Branthwaite. However, Everton did not waver, forcing one final opening for Barry to convert from close range and secure a result that could prove pivotal in the European race.

Burnley 3-4 Brentford

Brentford secured a dramatic 4-3 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor in a pulsating Premier League clash filled with VAR controversy and incredible comebacks. The Bees seemed to have the game wrapped up early, storming into a commanding 3-0 lead by the 34th minute, capped off by a Kevin Schade strike. However, Burnley found a crucial lifeline just before half-time courtesy of a Michael Kayode own goal.

The Clarets came out firing in the second half. Jaidon Anthony struck in the 47th minute, and Zian Flemming completed a stunning comeback to make it 3-3 just three minutes later. Breathing life into the contest, Flemming even thought he had given Burnley the lead late on, but his effort was ruled out for offside. In a breathless stoppage time, Mikkel Damsgaard broke Burnley’s hearts with a 93rd-minute winner, while Ashley Barnes’ 98th-minute equalizer was controversially disallowed for handball by VAR, sealing a wild three points for Keith Andrews’ side.

Across these fixtures, the Premier League once again demonstrated its capacity for drama and unpredictability, reminding fans why they remain glued to their screens every weekend.
