Paul Scholes prioritises family after marriage split

Paul Scholes has revealed significant changes in his life following the announcement of his split from Claire Froggatt, with the former Manchester United star focusing on his family responsibilities. Scholes disclosed these changes during a candid interview with former teammate Gary Neville on the Stick to Football podcast, reports BritPanorama.

The 50-year-old, who has stepped back from his role commentating for matches on TNT Sports, emphasised the importance of his son Aiden, who is severely autistic, in his daily routine. “Aiden has quite a strict routine every single day, so everything I do now is built around him,” Scholes explained.

He shared details about Aiden’s daily life, noting, “We always do the same things because he doesn’t know what day of the week it is or what time it is, but he knows from what we’re doing what day it is.” On specific days, he remarked, “On Tuesdays, I pick him up from daycare and we go swimming. He loves swimming, then we get his pizza on the way home.” He also mentioned their Sundays, where they shop and enjoy family time together.

Scholes and Claire, who married in 1999 and have three children together, have maintained a degree of privacy regarding their relationship. Despite their decision to separate after 26 years of marriage, they continue to support each other, especially in caring for Aiden. Reports indicate they live in close proximity, with their other children having left home.

Reflecting on the challenges he faced as a player and parent, Scholes admitted to difficulties in expressing his struggles to management during his playing days, stating, “There were times I’d turn up for training with bite or scratch marks. It was very hard in those days.” His emphasis on family dynamics highlights the shifting priorities in his life following the split.

As he navigates this new chapter, Scholes remains committed to his son and family life, marking a significant transition for one of football’s enduring figures.
