Paul Scholes' Christmas dinner confessions leave teammates shocked and appalled

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes sparks outrage with festive eating habits

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has been branded a “dirty b*****d” by his old teammate Nicky Butt following some shocking revelations about his festive eating habits, reports BritPanorama.

During an appearance on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Scholes astonished Butt and host Paddy McGuinness with his unconventional approach to Christmas dinner. He disclosed his practice of smothering brussels sprouts in ketchup alongside gravy, which left his podcast companions visibly aghast.

Scholes expressed a unique fondness for the divisive vegetable, saying, “I love sprouts. I like sprouts with ketchup. Ketchup and gravy.” His fondness for these toppings led to further astonishment when he recounted a childhood ritual at his grandmother’s house, where she would drink the “sprout juice” left over from cooking.

This revelation was met with incredulity, prompting McGuinness to declare his stance on such unusual practices clear: “If you were at my house on Christmas Day and you started putting ketchup on your Christmas dinner I would f*** you straight off.” Butt chimed in, dismissing sprouts altogether and declaring Scholes’ choices bizarre and unsightly.

This exchange underscores the strong opinions held by Butt and McGuinness regarding Scholes’ unconventional food preferences. Unlike Scholes, who seems unfazed by criticism, they both appear steadfast in their disdain for his festive culinary choices.

The debate around unusual Christmas dinners isn’t exclusive to Scholes. Former England international Wayne Rooney has also faced scrutiny for his unique festive plate, which led to remarks about his food choices during an interview with BBC Sport.

As the conversation around footballers’ food preferences continues, it serves as a reminder that the realm of culinary choices can often spark strong reactions—often as compelling as the sporting achievements these athletes are known for.
