Tyson Fury confirms commitment to three more fights
Tyson Fury’s wife Paris has disclosed that the heavyweight boxer has committed to a contract for three additional fights following his comprehensive triumph over Arslanbek Makhmudov at the weekend, reports BritPanorama.
The former world champion secured a lopsided points victory in the Netflix-broadcast bout on Saturday evening, with judges scoring the contest 120-108, 120-108 and 119-109 in his favour.
The win represented Fury’s first success since his October 2023 decision over Francis Ngannou and marked his fifth return to the sport. Speaking to Boxing King Media, Paris expressed her support for her husband’s continued boxing career.
“He’s signed a deal now to do three more fights, and I saw him out of the ring and saw the unhappiness. To see him smile like this,” she said.
Paris also noted that her husband had undertaken a rigorous three-month training camp in preparation for the bout. “He’s trained unbelievably. If he’s put himself completely first and put all the fitness in, then I know he’s done everything he can, so I am totally here for it,” she added.
With Anthony Joshua watching from ringside at the Tottenham venue, Fury wasted no time in issuing a direct challenge to his British rival. “Next I want to give you the fight you’ve all been waiting for; I want you AJ, Anthony Joshua,” Fury proclaimed from the ring. “Let’s give the fight fans what they want, a battle of Britain. I challenge you AJ to fight me, The Gypsy King, next. Say yes or no now.”
However, Joshua declined the invitation to enter the ring alongside Fury. The 36-year-old, who has not competed since his December victory over YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, refused to give a straightforward answer to Fury.
Joshua’s response was notably combative as he addressed his fellow Briton directly. “Tyson… you’re a clout chaser. Tyson I’ve never had no problem getting in the ring with you, I punched you out when we were kids, and after seeing you in the ring tonight I’d punch you up again,” Joshua stated.
He added, “With all due respect tonight is your night and I’ll sit across the ring from you in due time. You ain’t gonna tell me what to do. I’ve been chasing you for the last 10 years.”
Despite initially appearing reluctant to engage with Fury’s challenge, Joshua later took a more conciliatory stance on the potential showdown. “There are negotiations that you go through. I have been at this table with him many times. In my heart, I’d fight Fury tomorrow, especially after watching that. There is not a problem fighting him,” he explained.
He underscored his preference for conducting business through proper channels rather than theatrical confrontations. “I am not here to get clout. I am here to fight. The contract will be sent over, we will go through the nitty gritty, and you will probably see us in the ring next, more than likely – but I am not here to get in the ring, shouting in someone’s face,” he said.
As Fury looks forward to his next matches, speculation will inevitably continue around a potential clash with Joshua, a rivalry that has captured the imagination of boxing fans.
