Usyk’s Next Opponent Confirmed Following Dubois Victory

Frank Warren has confirmed who will be next to face Oleksandr Usyk after his dominant victory over Daniel Dubois saw the Ukrainian become undisputed heavyweight champion, reports BritPanorama.

Usyk, who dropped Dubois in the fifth round, has firmly established himself at the pinnacle of the boxing world. The speculation surrounding a potential vacating of titles for a third fight with Anthony Joshua or a showdown with Tyson Fury has been dismissed by Warren.

The promoter stated that the winner of Saturday’s fight between Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley will secure a bout against Usyk. “At the moment in the heavyweight division, it’s the best fight out there,” Warren asserted. Both fighters have taken the opportunity to compete, with Warren highlighting their readiness.

Parker, currently the interim champion, was urged to defend his title but chose to fight regardless of an injury setback. “He said no. He said he wanted to fight anyway,” Warren explained. Similarly, Wardley, who could have chosen to wait for a title shot, opted to engage Parker, demonstrating his competitive spirit.

The WBO has ordered Usyk to defend his titles, although the original order was postponed in July due to the Ukrainian’s back injuries. While Usyk is projected to return to the ring in the first half of 2026, the upcoming bout promises high stakes for the contenders.

“These guys are well-trained. They’ve not left anything, no stone unturned. They’re in their best condition,” Warren added, emphasising the significance of their upcoming clash. The winner gains a chance to challenge Usyk for the WBO and other three championship belts.

Warren further indicated that Usyk is committed to taking on the victorious fighter from Parker vs Wardley next year, presenting a genuine opportunity for the winner. David Higgins, Parker’s manager, expressed initial scepticism regarding Usyk’s intentions but noted positive developments in conversations held recently.

“Usyk absolutely does value the unified position and will honour it,” Higgins stated, cultivating confidence that the winner of this fight will earn a shot at the undisputed title, making it an exhilarating eliminator.

Anticipation mounts as the boxing world turns its gaze to The O2 this Saturday, where Parker and Wardley will meet in a match that not only carries personal implications but could also shape the future of heavyweight boxing.
