Max Dowman becomes youngest goalscorer in Premier League history as Arsenal beats Everton

Arsenal secures victory over Everton with late goals

Arsenal secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Everton, with Viktor Gyokeres breaking the deadlock in the 89th minute before teenager Max Dowman wrapped things up in stoppage time, reports BritPanorama.

The Gunners appeared set for a frustrating goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium until Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made a costly error, misjudging a cross into the box. Gyokeres was on hand to tap the ball home, sending the home crowd into raptures.

This win temporarily moves Arsenal ten points clear at the summit of the Premier League. However, Manchester City can reduce that gap when they face West Ham later tonight.

The night belonged especially to Dowman, who made history with his stoppage-time strike. At just 16 years and 73 days old, he became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history, surpassing the record held by Everton’s James Vaughan since 2005.

With Pickford stranded upfield after joining a late corner, Dowman showed remarkable composure, beating two defenders before rolling the ball into an empty net. The Emirates erupted in celebration for the teenager, who had made only his third Premier League appearance this season following injury struggles.

Everton will feel hard done by after a commendable performance at the Emirates. They came close to taking the lead twice in the first half, with Dwight McNeil impressing on the wing. His initial effort was brilliantly blocked by Riccardo Calafiori, who made a spectacular intervention to keep the score level. McNeil later struck the post with a curling shot from the edge of the area.

Gyokeres praised Dowman’s composure following the match. “It’s incredible. You can see how he plays, he plays so calm and without fear every time he gets the ball,” the Swedish striker remarked. “He takes the right decisions most of the time, and you can see with the goal that he definitely took the right one. An amazing player and a great goal for him.”

Regarding Arsenal’s strong position in the title race, Gyokeres kept the focus grounded. “Every win is important. We try to do our best in our games and we can’t control the other results. We’re in a good position. We’ll try to enjoy these moments now.”

In a league where pressure mounts with every fixture, this match served as a reminder of how swiftly fortunes can shift — a timely finish not just for the scoreboard but for a young career bursting into life on the grand stage.
